Prysma Assessments the integrated system for psychometric assessment

Prysma was developed as a modular platform that includes psychometric measures that are useful in many if not all domains of applied psychology. Prysma can serve the psychological and behavioral assessment needs of practitioners in various domains of psychology: clinical psychology, counseling and vocational guidance, school and educational psychology, work and organizational psychology, human resources etc. As a modular system, Prysma places the control over the assessment process with the practitioner: they can decide at any moment what scales are used, in what combination, what length and with what type of report.

In 2022, the Prysma tests were fully approved by the Romanian College of Psychologists ("Colegiul Psihologilor din România").

The Prysma system has developed and integrated scientifically validated psychometric instruments into a modern digital platform that facilitates the standardized administration, scoring and interpretation of psychological assessments.

Who are we?

Prysma is a company founded by psychologists for psychologists. Prysma continues the tradition of applying rigorous scientific methods for solving practical problems typical for psychological and behavioral science. The Prysma team has gained extensive experience in building and adapting psychometric instruments through the psychometric projects carried out within TestCentral and SHL Romania.

Prysma was designed as a modular platform that includes psychological measures that can be used across the entire spectrum of applied psychology. Consequently, Prysma caters to the assessment needs of psychology practitioners from any area of specialization.

This way psychologists are not acquiring a single specific test, but unrestricted and simultaneous access to a universe of psychological tests for screening and in-depth assessment of normal personality functioning, clinical symptoms, dysfunctional personality traits, vocational interests and cognitive abilities (soon to be released).

Prysma scales for Normal Personality Functioning

The Prysma inventory for normal personality functioning comes in two formats: long form (regular) and short form. The long form includes six items per facet, totaling 300 individual items and 50 distinct facets. The short form includes two items per each of the 50 facets. Both measures employ a five-point Likert scale.

Prysma scales for Clinical Personality Functioning

The Prysma Clinical Personality Functioning scales were designed to measure the DSM-5 alternative model for personality disorders, a model that conceptualizes personality disorders as a continuum. This relatively new approach clusters the various personality disorder scales into five broad domains: Negative Affectivity, Detachment, Disinhibition (vs. Conscientiousness), Antagonism (vs. Agreeableness) and Psychoticism (vs. Lucidity). These domains include a total of 25 individual traits.

Prysma Validity Scales

Any given test configuration assembled from any type of scales and any format (long or short) can include two distinct validity scales: deceptive self-presentation (self-deceptive enhancement) and positive impression management (impression management). These two validity scales include 8 items per scale and add an extra two minutes to the total test-taking time. Based on the analysis of digital response patterns, Prysma automatically generates a profile validity index.

Comprehensive reports

Prysma reports include not just the typical graphical representation of the raw scores and standardized scores, but also detailed descriptions of the focal constructs, outlining the implications for both high and low scores in the various measurement domains. Prysma Symptom Scales

By carefully reviewing the DSM-5 and the latest research in psychopathology, the authors decided to include 17 distinct scales in order to capture various symptoms relevant for a wide array of psychopathologies and mental health problems. The scales include 13 constructs identical to the ones described by DSM-5 cross-cutting symptoms domain: Depression, Anger, Mania, Anxiety, Somatic Symptoms, Suicidal ideation, Psychosis, Sleep Disturbance, Memory Problems, Repetitive Thoughts and Behaviors, Dissociation, Personality Functioning and Substance Abuse. Prysma Scales for Vocational Interests

Prysma embraced a multifactorial approach to measuring vocational interests, capturing the six traits reflected by the foundational RIASEC model. The inventory was designed to capture a range of profile indices relevant for accurate and precise test interpretation. The Prysma vocational interest scales employ a similar format: long and short forms. The long form includes 96 items, while the short one uses only 60 items. Online Scoring

Administering the Prysma tests is preferably conducted online; this way the psychologist or expert does not need to deploy any extra effort. When online administration is not an option, the psychologist or expert employing Prysma can download the items and opt for a paper and pencil administration and subsequently load the responses into the online platform. The Prysma online system will automatically generate the test scores and associated reports.

Test Configurator

Prysma enables users to configure their own assessments by using those scales that are needed for a specific objective, leaving out the unnecessary items or scales. This way, the psychologist or expert user can combine short and long scales, from clinical, vocational, normal personality functioning or validity scale domains.
